In Conversation with Anne Skytte

There is something special about a piece that stays with you through different chapters of life. For longtime KONÉ customer Anne Skytte, it all began with an Albi Bum bag, purchased with her first paycheck as a full-time teacher. What started as a love for its understated design and practicality has grown into a lasting appreciation for quality, craftsmanship, and everyday luxury. As the brand has evolved into KONÉ, Anne Skytte has continued to return, drawn to the same qualities that first caught her attention. We spoke with Anne Skytte about the pieces we return to, finding beauty in functionality, and the joy of investing in something that continues to feel like your own, year after year.

What first drew you to KONÉ?

I must have been in my mid-to-late twenties when KONÉ introduced the Albi Bum bag - and it was one of those pieces you just had to have.

I’ve always been drawn to beautiful, well-made things, especially without logos, and the Albi was very high on my wish list. I loved the design, it felt very much like me, and it was incredibly practical too.

What keeps you coming back to KONÉ?

In many ways, it’s still the same things that keep me coming back - although perhaps there’s a little more room now for things that don’t always have to be practical.

It’s the quality and timelessness that make me reach for my KONÉ bags again and again. They last, and I’ve actually never bought bags from another brand.

You started with the Albi Bum bag. How has your relationship with KONÉ evolved since?

Yes, I started with my Albi Bum bag, which I actually bought with my first paycheck as a full-time teacher. It felt like quite a big moment. I still love my Albi, and every now and then I’ve wondered whether I should have outgrown it by now. But I haven’t. In fact, I think I’m on my fourth or fifth Albi by now, having worn them out over the years.

Over time, I’ve also expanded my KONÉ collection, but the feeling is still the same as when I bought my very first bag. To me, it’s an everyday luxury – and investing in good craftsmanship is something that still brings me joy.

What makes a piece stay in your wardrobe?

Definitely that it lasts, both in quality and expression. But of course, it also has to feel like me and fit naturally into my wardrobe. And honestly, I’ve always had a tendency to lose things. That actually changed with my first Albi, because suddenly I had a place for everything I wanted to carry with me. Since then, I’ve found that same functionality in several of my KONÉ bags, and I think it’s precisely that combination of beauty and practicality that keeps me reaching for them year after year.
